Noomi is featured in the current Malibu Magazine with a fantastic interview, by Felicity Martin, and a great new photoshoot. The last chapter remains the most interesting one: It’s not just the world of acting that Rapace is conquering. She’s just designed a clothing collection for a brand (“It’s very street, very hip-hop.”) She’s also launching a perfume later this year (“I’m doing a lot of stuff for fun,” she says). What I really want to know, however, is about the rumors she’s playing Amy Winehouse in an upcoming biopic. “Maybe … We’ll see. I’m involved in it, and I’m working on it, but all the components need to be right.” She smiles, explaining how, when they asked her to play Winehouse, she initially refused to read the script. “I have a strong connection to Amy. She was really present, her music, in the most critical moments of my life.” Rapace’s quest for perfection is particularly crucial on this project. “I can’t compromise on that one,” she urges. “The script needs to be amazing. It needs to be 100 percent. She is too important to me; my respect and love for her is just too important. It needs to be really brave and really honest and raw—and from my heart.” Rapace pours herself into all aspects of her career and life, from roles as villains or identical septuplets to perfume and key ring gifts for friends. There is no halfway. All considered, if Rapace eventually does tackle the role of Amy Winehouse, you can bet she’ll do it justice. The complete article can be read here.

Some very sad news today, as the family of Michael Nyqvist has confirmed the actor’s passing at age 56. Mr. Nyqvist landed his breakthrough role at age 39, playing Rolf, an abusive alcoholic husband in the 2000 film “Together.” The Swedish movie about members of a leftist commune in suburban Stockholm in the 1970s led to his first nomination for a Guldbagge, the annual cinema awards in Sweden. From there, Mr. Nyqvist was cast in leading roles on television shows and in films, including as Mikael Blomkvist, the fervent investigative reporter, in the original Swedish adaptation of the book series “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” He also received bigger parts in blockbuster Hollywood movies, playing a deranged Swedish-born Russian nuclear strategist in the 2011 movie “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol.” What better way to celebrate this wonderful actor’s career by re-watching the “Millennium” trilogy anytime soon. Here are some of Noomi’s and Michael’s moments together from the promotional tours of the “Dragon Tattoo” films.

While we’re still left in the dark if “Seven Sisters” is only the French / international title and the American version will be still titled “What Happened to Monday?”, promotion continues with a first set of character posters for the film’s release, featuring Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so far. See all the new posters in the photo gallery. Fingers crossed the remaining ones will be launched soon. Edit: The remaining 4 posters have been added as well.

The French theatrical trailer for “What Happened to Monday?” – called “Seven Sisters” internationally – has been released today and it looks amazing! In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets (all played by Noomi Rapace) must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own. Rapace is joined by Willem Dafoe and Glenn Close, so that’s not bad company either. Check out the trailer in the video archive. The French poster and new production stills have been added to the photo gallery.

I’m a few days behind with two of Noomi’s recent appearances in Sweden. On May 20, she has celebrated the launch of New Black x Noomi Rapace in Östermalm. As The New Black wrote on Instagram, “nowadays, when most collaborations are strictly business and all about money, we are happy to present something that is based on real friendship”. Also, last week, Noomi was one of the celebrity guests at Peter Stordalen’s opening of his new hotel At Six in Stockholm. Pictures from both events have been added to the photo gallery, with many thanks to Marinka.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Noomi Rapace is set to take the lead in upcoming action-thriller Close. The film – which has been sent out to buyers ahead of Cannes, with London-based banner WestEnd handling worldwide sales – is based on the life of the world’s leading female bodyguard, and will see the Prometheus star play Sam, a counter-terrorism expert who takes on what should be a babysitting job; protecting rich teenage heiress, Zoe. But a violent attempted kidnapping forces the two to go on the run. Now they’ve got to take some lives – or lose theirs. “Close” is being directed by British helmer Vicky Jewson (Born of War), who co-wrote the script with Rupert Whitaker. WestEnd acquired the film under its WeLove banner aimed at female audiences. Whitaker produces, while exec producers are Janette Day, Braden Aftergood, Sarah Radclyffe, and producers’ representative Dennis Davidson. Rapace, who rose to fame as Lisbeth Salander in the original Swedish-language adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium novels, has also starred in Child 44, The Drop and Michael Apted’s recent thriller Unlocked with Orlando Bloom and Toni Collette. She will soon appear alongside Will Smith and Joel Edgerton in David Ayer’s fantasy actioner Bright, hostage crisis thriller Stockholm with Mark Strong and Ethan Hawke, and as Maria Callas in an upcoming biopic about the famed opera singer. Shooting on Close is due to start next month.
