20th Century Fox has released an official synopsis for “Prometheus”, which can be read below. Also, various sources have reported that actor Ben Foster has joined the cast – so the film is most probably still shooting. And furthermore, word has it that a first trailer will be released this July. A release date has been set for June 08, 2012. Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery. Thanks to Ron for the correct synopsis.

Article courtesy Collider. Ridley Scott and Prometheus stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace attended CineEurope tonight to sell European exhibitors on the prospects of the 3D sci-fi project. Production is underway in London, but they obviously didn’t bring any footage or images or anything that would reveal what Prometheus is literally about. But the trio did speak to the themes of the movie. Rapace restricted herself to talk about the production: she described her work as “hard and sweaty” and claimed the 73-year-old Scott “still has more energy than all of us combined.” Prometheus is scheduled for release on June 8, 2012. The full article and quotes can be read over at Collider – and hopefully there’ll be some pictures of Noomi’s CineEurope appearance.

In October 2010, the Los Angeles Times reported on Noomi’s involvement on a biopic on Swedish boxer Boss Hogberg and his wife Anita Lindblom (see original post here). While there hasn’t been a word on this production ever since, it’s now brought back to the spotlight, according to Screendaily with the participation of Catherine Hardwicke as a director: Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will direct Swedish award-winning Millennium star Noomi Rapace as legendary Swedish singer Anita Lindblom and her husband actor Ola Rapace as boxer Bosse Högberg, in a yet untitled biopic depicting the couple’s whirlwind romance in the 1960s. Lindblom, whose chart-topper 1961 Sån’t är livet – a Swedish cover version of Roy Hamilton’s You Can Have Her – has been named Swedish Hit of the 20th Century. She was top of the pops when she met Högberg, a Swedish and European boxer champion, and their turbulent affair and subsequent marriage fed the scandal pages of the local tabloids for years. He died in 2005, while she is now in her 70s, living in France. The full article can be read here.

According to IndieWire, it looks like attendees of the Cine Europe Expo which takes place in Amsterdam starting today, through Thursday, the 30th, will have the opportunity to see footage from Ridley Scott’s super-secretive sci-fi project Prometheus, which co-stars Idris Elba, alongside Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce and Noomi Rapace, to name a few, and is currently shooting in the UK. This is according to a tweet from David Pinedo of Holland Film Nieuws (courtesy of CineEurope), stating: “Ridley scott will be screening footage of his film Prometheus at Cine Europe! Cameron with Titanic 3D material!” He also added that the cast will be in attendance!

This is how news are being made today – via tweets. Actor Russell Crowe visited Ridley Scott (with whom he worked on last year’s Robin Hood) on the set of “Prometheus” and tweeted “Just visited Ridley on the set of PROMETHEUS, holy s**t what a set, another incredible job by Arthur Max and his miracle workers”. When asked if he met Noomi Rapace during his visit, Crowe replied “She wasn’t there unfortunately, Ridley full of praise for her. She is something special.”

The big budget movie Promethius, directed by Ridley Scott, will be partly filmed in Iceland next month. The Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is in the new film and will be in Iceland for the week-long shoot, Visir.is reported. The extent of the shoot is expected to be similar to when Lara Croft was being filmed at the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon about ten years ago. Over 350 people were involved in that shoot. Among the other big names who will accompany the crew to Iceland are the Australian actor Guy Pearce, who is best known for his roles in Memento, L.A. Confidential and the King’s Speech. Noomi Rapace is also expected to renew her bonds with Iceland from previous visits. Rapace made her film acting début in the Icelandic Viking movie Shadow of the Raven 13 years ago. She made her name internationally, however, in the Millennium trilogy based on the books of Stieg Larsson. The Promethius production manager, Sam Breckman, has holed himself up at the Reykjavik headquarters of True North Productions; a company with great experience of filming, and helping others to film, in Iceland. Breckman is himself no Iceland novice and a prolific figure in Hollywood. In 2005 he worked with Chris Nolan when he filmed several scenes for Batman Begins on the Svinafellsjokull glacier in Iceland. True North is not directly the source of the news and is keeping absolutely silent about the Promethius project and what it involves.
