As streaming services increasingly muscle in on traditional distributors’ turf, we’re seeing more from the likes if Netflix and Amazon. The former even ran a trailer for one of its original movies during the Oscars on Sunday night, so get your first proper look at David Ayer’s Bright, starring Will Smith, Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace. Max Landis’ original concept script blends fantasy mythology with End Of Watch-style cop action, as Smith and Edgerton are playing a human and an orc who must outrun the authorities, criminals and a variety of supernatural beings to protect a powerful magic wand. Lucy Fry is Tikka, a young elf with her own magical abilities who comes into possession of the wand and needs the leads’ help when dark forces try to hunt her down. From the first glimpse of the film, it’s certainly interesting, with a cast that also includes Edgar Ramirez and Ike Barinholtz. It’ll hit Netflix in December.
The trailer and poster for “Unlocked” has been released today, and it looks very good. That being said, the film has been awaiting theatrical release for over three years, so one was worried what could have gone wrong. London is under biological attack from terrorists in Unlocked, and only Noomi Rapace has the key. Rapace stars as a CIA operative who finds her mission compromised. She’s forced to team up with an MI5 agent, played by Orlando Bloom, to track down the terrorist infiltration and prevent a major attack. Along the way, she’s ably assisted (or hindered?) by the likes of Michael Douglas, Toni Collette, and John Malkovich. Quite a cast. Veteran British director Michael Apted is behind the camera on this one, which makes sense given his Bond pedigree on The World Is Not Enough. Unlocked arrives on 5 May. Screencaptures have been added to the photo gallery, alongside the film’s poster.
20th Century Fox has a very special Christmas gift for everyone who’s eagerly anticipating “Alien: Covenant” – the first theatrical trailer. Bad things first, there’s no sight of Noomi, and judging from how the story evolves it’s difficult to picture Elizabeth Shaw being any part of this new story. But let’s see. Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape. “Alien: Covenant” hits theaters on May 19, 2017.
A second clip from the beginning of “Rupture” has been launched, showing us more of Noomi Rapace’s Renee, before all the horror starts. Additionally, four new production stills have been added to the photo gallery. Many thanks to Marinka for finding both.
Noomi Rapace is not really going to have an easy time in “Rupture”, as today’s released trailer for the claustrophobic horror film shows. Steven Shainberg, best known for directing the erotic thriller “Secretary”, is writing and directing this one, which sees Rapace play a young mother who finds herself unwittingly abducted into a mysterious laboratory. There, she is drugged and experimented on by seedy-looking captors (played by Peter Stormare and Michael Chiklis). And so the escape is on. Popping along right around Halloween, Rupture arrives in cinemas and on demand from 4 November. The trailer can be watched in the video archive. HD screencaptures from the trailer have been added to the photo gallery.
On December 1st, Noomi Rapace has attended Nyhetsmorgon as a spokesperson for ECPAT. The appearance was in coincidende with ECPAT’s latest public service announcement, narrated by Noomi herself. Both the PSA and the Nyhetsmorgon appearance can be watched in the video archive. Screencaptures can be found in the photo gallery.
Noomi’s next film is called “What Happened to Monday?”, but any fan’s question these days might rather be what happened to Noomi? She hasn’t been since since the Cannes Film Festival in May, and the answer is simple – work. Exciting for us, exhausting for Noomi, she is currently in Romania playing seven characters in the futuristic thriller by Tommy Wirkola. On Thursday, a press conference was held with the director as well as Noomi and co-stars Willem Dafoe and Clara Read. A news segment from the Romanian TV Neptun can be watched in the video archive, a couple of snapshots have been added to the photo gallery. Many thanks to Marinka for the heads-up!
The b-roll for “Child 44”, as well as an on-set interview with Noomi, have been published to release the film’s theatrical release this April (it’s finally coming after all this time). I’m sure there’ll be lots of additional promotion the coming days. Screencaptures from the promotional material has been added to the photo gallery. Many thanks to Marika for bringing this to my attention.
On January 30, Noomi has been a guest on “Skavlan” to promote the Swedish theatrical release of “The Drop”. She’s also talked about the current filming of “Unlocked”. Noomi has been a frequent visitor to the show, appearing previously in 2010 and 2011. The interview, split in two parts, can be watched in the video archive. Screencaptures have been added to the photo gallery as well.
In the wake of “Child 44″‘s US trailer being released, an international trailer for the UK has been published as well, featuring quite a few new scenes. Check it out in the video archive. Also, check back in a minute for a new batch of production stills from the film.
