Despite its well received world-premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, “You Won’t Be Alone” has not received much media attention so far, since the festival didn’t include any in-person appearances due to the pandemic. However, Collider has been able to conduct a video interview with both Noomi Rapace and the film’s director, Goran Stolevski, which can be viewed below in its entirety. Here’s what Collider wrote: We had a chance to speak with Goran Stolevski and Noomi Rapace about the film during Sundance FIlm Festival. During the conversation, we really explored the deeper topics of the film. Stolevski reveals his attraction to Macedonia and his connection there from childhood, how he came about the magic and folklore of “You Won’t Be Alone”, how he approached the women who influence Nevena, how Rapace adapted to playing two characters, and what drew her to the project both as an actor and executive producer. Additionally, Stolevski reveals his research behind Nevena’s speech patterns and working with an archaic Macedonian dialect.

There’s good news and bad news with today’s trailer premiere for Goran Stolevski’s upcoming “You Won’t Be Alone”. On the good side: The trailer is very interesting and yet ambigious about Noomi’s appearance – is it a leading role or rather a guest spot? (the poster lists her name last) The makeup of the witch gives no indication on this. Nevertheless, the trailer does its job in raising our interest to find out more. However, the bad news: Its previously announced release date on January 28, 2022 was pushed back a good three months to April 1. So we will need to wait a little bit longer to see it. Yesterday, Noomi was a guest on the ski slopes for the 13th edition of Les Arcs Film Festival in snowy Bourg-Saint-Maurice, France, to present “Lamb” as the festival’s opening night attraction. On Wednesday and Thursday, Noomi Rapace and director Valdimar Jóhannsson participated in a comprehensive media tour in the United Kingdom to promote Friday’s theatrical release of “Lamb”. There were various screenings and Q&As for the film throughout London. Pictures from all events have been added to the photo gallery.

It took eight years and a very enticing look book before Lamb co-writer and director Valdimar Jóhannsson got Iceland’s current Oscar entry off the ground. Rapace told us during during the film’s panel at Deadline’s Contenders Film: International that Jóhannsson’s pitch was of few words, but rather a bulk of pictures in a heavy volume of illustrations he created. “I was drawn into the universe of Lamb,” Rapace said. The filmmaker co-penned the screenplay with Icelandic poet Sjón. Jóhannsson even created a clay scale model of the farm he yearned to create for the film. In finding that farmland location in Iceland, Rapace laughs that the filmmaker was “driving around the islands to find the matching farm to his clay farm.” When finally discovered, let’s just say the location was bliss. “You drove into the valleys and everything just died,” Rapace said. “It felt like you were swallowed by the universe, and everything was fading, and we were just going deeper and deeper into the world of Lamb.” Explaining how the Christ-like movie relates to today’s world, Rapace remarked: “It’s quite a universal story. It deals with parenthood, loss, healing.” “Humans versus nature and how far are we willing to go,” she added. “How much have we taken and when will nature hit back at us?” Lamb has grossed $2.7 million at the domestic box office for A24 and holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 84% certified fresh. “Close,” an adrenaline-pumping action thriller written and directed by Vicky Jewson (“Born of War”), is inspired by the life of the world’s leading female bodyguard, Jacquie Davis. The film stars Noomi Rapace as Sam, a counter-terrorist expert used to war zones, who takes on the job of protecting Zoe (Sophie Nélisse), a young and rich heiress — a babysitting job for her. But a violent attempted kidnapping forces the two to go on the run. Now they’ve got to take some lives — or lose theirs

   

   

A world-class hacker. An Alien-battling archaeologist. Seven identical twins living in a dystopian nightmare. When it comes to choosing roles, Noomi Rapace has always been drawn to tough characters — so it should come as no surprise that her latest, that of steely bodyguard Sam in the Netflix thriller Close, also fits the description.

“I’ve always been so fascinated by female bodyguards,” Rapace explains. “I was obsessed with their world and how good they are at leading people and blending in and basically not taking up any space. They’re behind you or in front of you, but they walk with you. It’s almost like a dance. It’s just a very intriguing, kind of hidden and secretive world.”

Her Close character, as seen in the exclusive trailer above, definitely knows how to stay out of the spotlight. Directed by Vicky Jewson, the film begins with Rapace’s Sam hired to protect an heiress named Zoe (Sophie Nélisse) in what seems like a straightforward job — until a mysterious group attempts to kidnap Zoe and forces the two women to go on the run.

“She would die for the people she protects, but she also has a lot of ghosts from her past that she’s not really dealing with, and she doesn’t have a lot of personal relationships,” Rapace says of Sam. “She doesn’t let people in.”

That complexity drew Rapace to the role, which is based on that of Jacquie Davis, one of the world’s leading female bodyguards, whose clients have included J.K. Rowling, Nicole Kidman, and members of the British royal family. Rapace met with Davis, who also served as a consultant on Close, and trained in London with The Circuit — the British organization for close protection officers — in order to perform her many fight brutal scenes.

“[Jacquie] has seen the dark side of humanity several times, and her heart is heavy but also strong,” Rapace says. “I’m obsessed with digging into the human psyche and discovering how different things will change you as a person, and I feel like my peek into this world stayed with me. It left a mark on me.”
