Here’s a great early Christmas present for all visitors and fans of the “Millenium” trilogy. The video archive has been updated with an excerpt of the 2009 documentary “Millenium: The Story” on the life and work of Stieg Larsson, featuring an interview with Noomi on playing Lisbeth Salander (the interview was taped during rehearsals for Medealand). Then, a making of for “The Girl Who Played with Fire” – very interesting to see how the final scene of the film was made. And finally, an on-set interview with Noomi while shooting “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest”. Enjoy the new clips!

Some amazing on-set pictures of Noomi’s latest Swedish film, “Beyond”, have been added to the gallery. The new uploads are accompanied by public appearances pictures from the “Beyond” photocall in stockholm, the “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” photocall in Amsterdam (January 2010) as well as the “The Girl Who Played with Fire” photocall in Stockholm (September 2009).

Noomi has received two more award nominations as Best Actress for “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. The first one comes from the St. Louis Film Critics Association – the other nominees in this category are Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone), Natalie Portman (Black Swan) and Naomi Watts (Fair Game). The second nomination comes from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for their Critics Choice Movie Award. Here, she shares the Best Actress category with Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right), Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine). And “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” has received a nomination for Best Foreign Language film by both institutions as well. The Critics Choice Awards will be handed out on January 14, 2011.

Additionally, Noomi has won the Richard Attenborough Film Award as Best Actress, as previously reported.

Congratulations to Noomi for receiving a Houston Area Film Critics Award nomination as Best Actress for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. In the third movie of the Millennium trilogy, The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest – out Boxing Day – one of the men trying to undermine the brilliance of Lisbeth Salander remarks on her tiny stature. When you meet Noomi Rapace, you have the same impression. The petite Swedish 30-year-old is an acting powerhouse in the same way that Lisbeth is a hacker par excellence. Certainly Hollywood has taken notice as Rapace is currently filming Sherlock Holmes II with Robert Downey Jnr. in London.

“I always felt like I was going to leave Sweden one day and when I was a kid I was lying to everyone how I was leaving soon,” recalls Rapace. “Probably I always felt a bit on my way. But I don’t have a dream of being a Hollywood superstar. I want to be an actress, that’s all. “I don’t care if I work on a studio production or a small independent film from Ukraine. All I care about are the characters and the stories.”

Noomi Rapace has received a nomination for the Golden Satellite Award (International Press Academy) in the Best Actress category for “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. She shares this category with Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone), Helen Mirren (The Tempest), Natalie Portman (Black Swan), Tilda Swinton (I Am Love), Naomi Watts (Fair Game) and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine). The awards luncheon will take place on December 19th in the Los Angeles Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. Congratulations, Noomi!

It’s still quite early in 2011’s awards season, but ABC News is predicting who will have chances at this year’s Oscars – also mentioning Noomi. The full article can be read here:

Noomi Rapace may also have a shot for her work playing the facially grommeted punk hacker Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish movie “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” (Rapace also starred in the two subsequent films in the series.) “You don’t often see female characters like the one played by Rapace, who was a startling screen presence,” said MaryAnn Johanson (of flickfilosopher.com). “She made a huge impression on movie goers and probably on Academy members as well.” However, the fact that “Dragon Tattoo” contained subtitles may prove to be its undoing. “Academy voters often disregard foreign movies outside the ‘foreign film’ category,” she said.

Article courtesy People Magazine: When Noomi Rapace won the role of the gutsy Lisbeth Salander in Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo films, she knew it would change her life. But not quite the way she expected. “I thought everyone would hate me!” says Rapace, 30, who transformed herself into an androgynous, punky, chain-smoking computer hacker for the three Swedish movies. “The readers of the books have such a strong relationship with her as a character, I thought they’d never accept what I did with Lisbeth. It felt like a suicide mission to accept the role.” To prepare, Rapace trained kick-boxing four times a week for seven months, dieted, got a motorcycle license, cut her hair and pierced herself a total of six times. Her 7-year-old son – with Swedish actor Ola Rapace – was at first hesitant about his mom’s new look. “For the first movie, he asked me, ‘Mom, why do you want to look like a teenage boy?'” she says. “For the last movie, I shaved my head on both sides like a Mohawk. I brought him with me when I did it, because I didn’t want to come home and look like Edward Scissorhands and scare him! He sat there and looked at me and said, ‘Mom, why are you doing this?’ After a while, he said, ‘I think it looks good! I want a hairdo like that, too!’ That’s when I said, ‘Stop!'”

Entertainment Tonight has news on the 2010 Hollywood Film Awards. The gala event will be held on October 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Accolades being handed out include The Hollywood Ensemble Award to ‘The Social Network’, while Spotlight Awards will go to Leighton Meester for ‘Country Strong,’ Milla Jovovich for ‘Stone,’ Barry Pepper for ‘Casino Jack,’ Noomi Rapace for ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and Mila Kunis for ‘Black Swan.’ The other major categories can be voted by the fans – cast your vote for your favorite at Yahoo Movies until October 19.
