Yesterday, Noomi has attended the 14th Annual Hollywood Film Awards. Dressed by Alexander McQueen, she was honored with the Spotlight Award for her performance in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. ‘Oh, how my life has changed after those three movies,’ Noomi Rapace says. The petite Swede transformed into a kick-butt heroine during her nine months’ filming of the adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s bestselling trilogy that began with “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and concludes with “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.” As Lisbeth Salander, Rapace has become locally and internationally known. “I’ve done a lot of Swedish films but none like these. I don’t think there’s ever been a level like this for Swedish films before,” she notes. Hollywood has come calling, and Rapace is now filming the “Sherlock Holmes” sequel in London. Which character she plays, she cannot say. “But they have invited me to work with them on the script and to find her. … So actually, this really big movie sometimes feels like a small independent family, searching to do something great together.”

Article courtesy the San Franscisco Chronicle: On the phone, what jumps out about Sweden’s Noomi Rapace, who indelibly portrayed iron-willed woman of few words Lisbeth Salander in the “Millennium Trilogy” films, is her British-inflected English and rapid-fire, energetic speech. “I think she’s a beautiful example of how you can manage to survive and turn yourself from being a victim, being pissed on and treated so badly, how you can turn it into strength and into power,” she says of the much-beloved character. “She doesn’t feel pity for herself. She doesn’t complain. She always finds a way to act instead of being wrapped up in a lot of emotional issues. She’s a survivor and a fighter, and she’s trying every minute to free herself and not accept the destiny that everybody around her, pretty much, has forced her into. I think that’s pretty beautiful.”

20th Century Fox is pushing forward with Ridley Scott’s prequel to Alien, a sci-fi story that takes place 35 years before the original timeline featuring Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley. The studio reportedly “flipped” last week over the new draft by Damon Lindelof, one of the creators of ABC’s “Lost,” after he rewrote the script turned in by Jon Spaights. Details have been scarce, usually cobbled together from the crumbs Scott offers to his hungry followers, but a script has definitely been handed in and is now being shown to potential cast members. Which is why we’re suddenly seeing a multitude of casting rumors circling. Natalie Portman is supposedly the studio’s top choice, but she’s on the top of just about everyone’s list at this point. Noomi Rapace, star of the Swedish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, also met with Scott to discuss the lead, as did Gemma Arterton. Even Carey Mulligan’s name has surfaced, which would be a major departure from her previous work. More recently, Bloody-Disgusting reported Anne Hathaway and James Franco were being considered for roles, which makes some logical sense considering their recent connections to the studio. Franco is starring in another Fox reboot, Rise of the Apes, in the works. Hathaway recently worked with other branches of the studio on Fox 2000’s Love and Other Drugs and the animated film Rio.

Entertainment Tonight has news on the 2010 Hollywood Film Awards. The gala event will be held on October 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Accolades being handed out include The Hollywood Ensemble Award to ‘The Social Network’, while Spotlight Awards will go to Leighton Meester for ‘Country Strong,’ Milla Jovovich for ‘Stone,’ Barry Pepper for ‘Casino Jack,’ Noomi Rapace for ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ and Mila Kunis for ‘Black Swan.’ The other major categories can be voted by the fans – cast your vote for your favorite at Yahoo Movies until October 19. According to the Los Angeles Times, Noomi Rapace is set to come aboard the “The Last Voyage of Demeter,” about the ill-fated journey of Dracula’s coffin from Transylvania to England, according to sources familiar with the project. Rapace is expected to play a stowaway on the boat, which according to legend arrived at its port with no survivors, prompting speculation that the vampire corpse made a little mayhem. Ben Kingsley is also coming aboard the ship, the sources said, while a lead actor is in the process of being cast. The film has heat behind it: it’s being directed by Oscar-winner Stefan Ruzowitzky (“The Counterfeiters”) and produced by the team behind “Shutter Island” at Phoenix Pictures; the movie is expected to contain some of the literary genre qualities that characterized “Shutter.”
