The French theatrical trailer for “What Happened to Monday?” – called “Seven Sisters” internationally – has been released today and it looks amazing! In a world where families are limited to one child due to overpopulation, a set of identical septuplets (all played by Noomi Rapace) must avoid being put to a long sleep by the government and dangerous infighting while investigating the disappearance of one of their own. Rapace is joined by Willem Dafoe and Glenn Close, so that’s not bad company either. Check out the trailer in the video archive. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Noomi Rapace is set to take the lead in upcoming action-thriller Close. The film – which has been sent out to buyers ahead of Cannes, with London-based banner WestEnd handling worldwide sales – is based on the life of the world’s leading female bodyguard, and will see the Prometheus star play Sam, a counter-terrorism expert who takes on what should be a babysitting job; protecting rich teenage heiress, Zoe. But a violent attempted kidnapping forces the two to go on the run. Now they’ve got to take some lives – or lose theirs. “Close” is being directed by British helmer Vicky Jewson (Born of War), who co-wrote the script with Rupert Whitaker. WestEnd acquired the film under its WeLove banner aimed at female audiences. Whitaker produces, while exec producers are Janette Day, Braden Aftergood, Sarah Radclyffe, and producers’ representative Dennis Davidson. Rapace, who rose to fame as Lisbeth Salander in the original Swedish-language adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium novels, has also starred in Child 44, The Drop and Michael Apted’s recent thriller Unlocked with Orlando Bloom and Toni Collette. She will soon appear alongside Will Smith and Joel Edgerton in David Ayer’s fantasy actioner Bright, hostage crisis thriller Stockholm with Mark Strong and Ethan Hawke, and as Maria Callas in an upcoming biopic about the famed opera singer. Shooting on Close is due to start next month.

“Unlocked” has been released in UK theaters last Friday and has entered the box office earning £258,000 over the weekend. The US theatrical release date has been set for September 01, 2017. “Unlocked” has premiered in UK theaters on Friday. Having stepped aside for Rooney Mara in David Fincher’s 2011 film, the original girl with the dragon tattoo is still proving her mettle for the part in far lesser vehicles like “Unlocked” – an anonymously enjoyable espionage thriller that, for purposes of memory, all but self-destructs the second the closing credits begin to roll.

Islamic State, MI5, a deadly virus and a neck-tattooed Orlando Bloom: screenwriter Peter O’Brien throws everything at the wall in this derivative thriller. Nothing sticks. With a cast of A-listers including John Malkovich, Michael Douglas and Toni Collette, not to mention Rapace herself, you’d expect at least one performance capable of cutting through the script’s sludge. Still, worth a hate-watch if only to hear Bloom’s former marine declare in full EastEnders mode: “I love a tagine.”

The sheer flimsiness of every role here, including Rapace’s, means it’s rarely possible to see the highly recognisable cast as anyone other than themselves: in particular, the moment Bloom’s character first pulls off his balaclava to reveal the grinning face of Legolas underneath is a ludicrous ‘Only me!’ moment worthy of The Fast Show.

Noomi Rapace plays Alice, a CIA agent undercover in London; Michael Douglas is her handler; John Malkovich is the hawkish spy chief at Langley; and Collette is his testy opposite number at MI5. Alice is curtly called in to interrogate a jihadi intermediary suspected of being about to give the “go” instruction on a bio-warfare attack somewhere in the US. She’s about to break him – when something strange happens. Like so many thrillers of this sort, the movie blandly assumes that Middle Eastern terrorists aren’t smart enough to fool US authorities: it takes American converts and American spies. But this covert cliche aside, Unlocked is an entertaining genre thriller, punched home with vigour and attack.

Rapace has the kick-ass moves, but her low-voltage performance is too waxy and blank for a lead role. Sporting tattoos and a man-bun, Bloom makes a comically off-target bid to rebrand himself as a Jason Statham-type hard man, barking cod-Dickensian lines in a cartoonish mockney accent that will grate with many Brit viewers. Collette radiates twinkly androgynous mischief with her peroxide punkette buzzcut and cut-glass English accent.

She’s finally here, breathing, speaking, Elizabeth Shaw. And yet my feeling tells me this is probably all we’re going to see in “Alien: Covenant”. Fingers crossed I’m wrong. As part of the Alien Day celebration, 20th Century Fox has released “The Crossing”, a new, official prologue to Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant that not only reveals the fates of Elizabeth Shaw and the android David after the events of Prometheus, but also stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender in their former roles. That’s a pretty big deal considering that this sequence is not expected to be part of the finished film, though it does answer part of the question of what Shaw and David have been up to on their spacefaring journey. But perhaps it reveals too much. Some recent images released by Empire revealed some curious scenes which we assumed were from Alien: Covenant, but at least one of them was actually from this new short film. We’ll break it down after you’ve had a chance to view it, but let me just say that I love this particular brand of marketing, one that doesn’t show off sequences from the film over and over again so that they’re stale by the time you get to the theater. A new tv spot for “Alien: Covenant” gives us some little bit more on what might have happened to Elizabeth Shaw. According to The Siver Times, Shaw was heading towards the planet of Engineers with the android David, incarnated by Michael Fassbender, to find answers. But since then, it has completely disappeared from circulation. Noomi Rapace is supposed to be in the cast of Alien: Covenant , but it is clear that for now, we have not seen it anywhere in the trailers of the film. According to Ridley Scott, it was at the beginning of the film that we discovered what happened to him. And now a TV spot titled “Dr. Shaw ” just sheds light on his fate. In the latter, we see especially the character of Katherine Waterston falling on an identification card that belonged to Dr. Shaw, Then a hologram of Elizabeth Shaw in person appears, while she is command of the Engineers ship. What is less reassuring is that a tail of Xenomorph seems to get him out of the back. Would it then be the famous Xenomorph? In any case, this would go in the direction of the scene teased by Ridley Scott at the Cinema Con. In this one, we find the android David and Elizabeth Shaw aboard the ship. And as they land on the planet of Engineers, the door of the ship opens and bombs that contain a mysterious black liquid explode on the inhabitants come to welcome them, melting them. Could this black liquid also be the source of Dr. Shaw’s transformation? And would that be the origin of the Xenomorphs ? And is David David behind it all? Answer May 10th. Noomi Rapace, Michael Douglas and Orlando Bloom have been spotted last week doing press junkets, so we can look forward to some proper promotion for the film. Here’s the official synopsis:

Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) headlines the action thriller UNLOCKED. Once one of the CIA’s top interrogators, Alice Racine’s (Rapace) career was sidelined when she failed “to unlock” a prisoner in time to save the lives of dozens of innocent people from a terrorist attack in Paris. Now leading a quiet life in London as a caseworker, Alice is unexpectedly called back into action when the CIA apprehends a suspect believed to have direct knowledge of another imminent attack.

“Unlocked” will be literally unlocked this May after being shelved for two years. I’m really excited for the reviews. While “Rupture” has been released on demand and on Blu-Ray in most European countries, the United States are still awaiting its theatrical release, where it’s available to watch on DirecTV starting March 30 and is released in theaters and on VOD and Digital HD on April 28. To promote its release, a new trailer with some heavy spoilers has been released, alongside a news blip from Entertainment Weekly: In the science fiction film Rupture, Noomi Rapace plays a single mother named Renee who is deathly terrified of spiders and is violently abducted by a group of strangers. After enduring intense questioning and examinations, Renee discovers she is now the subject of an underground experiment and her captors believe she has a genetic abnormality that can potentially allow her to “rupture” and reveal her alien nature.

In advance of Alien: Covenant arriving in theaters on May 19, director Ridley Scott joined stars Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride at the SXSW Film Festival for a screening of the original Alien, followed by new footage from Alien: Covenant. It was there that Fandango caught up with the trio to talk a little more about Covenant and how it differs from Prometheus (it’ll be gorier!), as well as how it all connects to Scott’s original 1979 Alien movie. Scott referenced both Fassbender’s android character David, as well as Noomi Rapace’s character, Elizabeth Shaw. They were the only two left alive at the end of Prometheus, and we cut away from the duo as they begin their search for the Engineers’ home world. We’ve known for a while that Rapace would return in some form for Covenant, but how and in what way remains a mystery. So we asked Scott how, exactly, Rapace would return. “Yes, in a way,” he said, confirming she’ll be in the film. “Not fully, but in a way. She was integral to what David carried out later.” Based on those comments it would appear David did something to her or used her in some way that will prove to be a central plot point as far as what David has been up to since we last saw him. You’ll see!” Waterston added.

“There are certain things you don’t want to know. You don’t want to know that!” Recently, Scott said he could continue making Alien movies as long as there’s an appetite for them, and that the next film is already written. We tried to ask him just how many were on the books now, and we warn you that the following may be a bit spoilery… “There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien,” he said. We asked Scott what the timeline looked like – would it be Prometheus, Covenant and then this next movie before we arrive at the events of the original Alien. That’s when the answer became a bit foggy as it appears he slips in the title for another movie we haven’t seen yet and positions it between Prometheus and Covenant. “It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant.. fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way….” Waterston cut in again to stop Scott from spoiling any more information. “You’re giving away too much!” she screamed. “But yes, there will be more after this. I think that was the question.” To which Scott replied, “If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.” While those answers all seemed like they came in pieces, what we got out of it was that there may be another Alien movie called Alien: Awakening, and it may either come after the events of Covenant or between Prometheus and Covenant. And that the next one would complete a trilogy, at which time Scott has another three Alien films in his mind.
