The trailer and poster for “Unlocked” has been released today, and it looks very good. That being said, the film has been awaiting theatrical release for over three years, so one was worried what could have gone wrong. London is under biological attack from terrorists in Unlocked, and only Noomi Rapace has the key. Rapace stars as a CIA operative who finds her mission compromised. She’s forced to team up with an MI5 agent, played by Orlando Bloom, to track down the terrorist infiltration and prevent a major attack. Along the way, she’s ably assisted (or hindered?) by the likes of Michael Douglas, Toni Collette, and John Malkovich. Quite a cast. Veteran British director Michael Apted is behind the camera on this one, which makes sense given his Bond pedigree on The World Is Not Enough. Unlocked arrives on 5 May. Screencaptures have been added to the photo gallery, alongside the film’s poster.
Lots of film news today, check out the following update as well. First, some news from Cannes. The 2016 film festival gets underway today with a swarm of jet-lagged but hungry buyers, and plenty of product for them to evaluate, in every genre. Among them is the anticipated “What Happened to Monday?” which will be looking for a buyer for its theatrical distribution. Fingers crossed it’ll be picked up and released soon. Funnily, “Callas” is also selling at Cannes. If you remember, last year the project was announced at the festival with Noomi in the lead role to portray the famous opera singer. Unfortunately, it’s been the first and also last news on the project so far. So, at least it’s back at Cannes again :-) In other news, the Evening Standard has interviewed John Malkovich, who’s part of the killer-cast of “Unlocked”, which stars Noomi, Toni Collette and Michael Douglas. According to the article, the film is all but finished except that Malkovich has been asked to shoot some extra scenes, rather to his annoyance given his frantic schedule. This comes as a surprise since Noomi has filmed her scenes beginning in November 2014! With no release date in sight, this might take up to three years after its inital begin to finally see the light of day.

Noomi has been spotted in London to continue shooting Michael Apted’s “Unlocked” and Daily Mail has written more about it: Noomi Rapace proved she’s still got some dynamic moves in her repertoire on the set of her latest movie, displaying her fitness levels in London on Thursday. The beautiful Swedish actress is currently in the British capital filming Unlocked alongside Orlando Bloom. The 35-year-old got involved with what appeared to be her own stunts during filming, hanging upside down on a climbing frame in front of the river Thames, without the need for any help or protection. As well as managing to keep her balance (and showing off her toned quad muscles in the process), the super-fit star also added in a few impressive sit-ups. Keeping her balance, Noomi also jumped over the rails of the climbing frame carefully, taking care not to lose footing. The gritty new action thriller follows the terrifying story of a biological warfare threat on the British capital. Specifically, the story follows a CIA interrogator who is lured into a ploy that puts London at risk of such an attack. Unlocked is directed by Michael Apted, who is best known for films The World Is Not Enough and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and it also stars notable names Michael Douglas, John Malkovich, and Toni Collette.

According to Deadline, Noomi Rapace is in negotiations to join director Mikael Hafstrom in Unlocked, the spy thriller produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Georgina Townsley and Erik Howsam. The Peter O’Brien-scripted thriller made the Black List, and Rapace would play a female CIA interrogator duped into getting a terrorist to provide key information to the wrong side. It puts her at the center of a plot to launch a biological attack in London. It was originally set at Warner Bros, but the studio let it go and it’s being mounted as an indie film. Rapace, who broke through in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy, last starred in the Ridley Scott-directed Prometheus, and next stars with Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Jason Clarke in the Daniel Espinosa-directed Child 44 for Summit Entertainment.
