Netflix is in final negotiations to acquire “What Happened to Monday?” a sci-fi thriller starring Noomi Rapace and Glenn Close, Variety has learned. The deal will close in the mid-seven figure range for multiple territories, including the United States. The project sold out of the Toronto Film Festival. Although it wasn’t an official selection, “What Happened to Monday?” was screened to buyers at several private screenings, where it received favorable responses. CAA packaged and sold the movie. “Whatever Happened to Monday?” is directed by Tommy Wirkola (“Hansel & Gretal: Witch Hunters”) and co-stars Willem Dafoe. Rapace takes on six different roles in a story set in a post-apocalyptic world where families are forced to only have one child. Producers are Raffaella De Laurentiis, Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi. The film was written by Kerry Williamson (“Alex Cross”) and Max Botkin (“Robosapien: Rebooted”).
